Mestalla hosted the final stage of the ‘FIFA20 Tournament’ Club Scouting Challenge PlayStation gaming event this past weekend, and winner Oliver Sigurdsson earned the opportunity to become Powergym Valencia CF eSports' new FIFA20 player for a season.
The event, organised jointly by Valencia CF and PlayStation, was a roaring success, welcoming participants and spectators to the packed VIP Box at the stadium amidst a great atmosphere and the backdrop of the Valencia CF bat logo.
In the first semifinal, Sigurdsson eliminated Callum2Y. In the second, Jaimevcf8 beat AM1R_23 in a two-legged tie. Then came time for the final, across two games: The first ended 2-2, whilst the second ended in victory for Sigurdsson with a solitary goal, to the applause of those in attendance.
Juan Carlos Sahuquillo of the Valencia CF Marketing Department spoke to VCF MEDIA after the game, thanking PlayStation for making VCF "LaLiga's exclusive club for presenting these initiatives to Spanish football, which are carried out in every league," and "for organising an event of this magnitude in an incomarable setting like Mestalla."
